Weekly summary 14/2021

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 14th week of 2021, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Coronavirus situation. a) The situation in general. In Germany, the ICU capacities have been reduced by over 6,000 beds starting November 2020. That is approximately the number of patients which required ICU care during the '2nd wave' in fall and winter 2020. Now the ICU workload in percentage has started to increase - but not because there are more patients, just because there are less ICU capacities than a couple of months ago. What plausible reason could there be to close 23 hospitals in Germany during a dangerous pandemic (in 2020, compared to available hospitals in 2019), and then reduce ICU capacities even further, pretty exactly for the amount of beds required to care for the hospitalized people?

On the other hand, with now 50 studies including 26 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) reporting positive effects of Ivermectin, there is sufficient research proving the efficacy of Covid-19 prophylaxis and treatment protocols like I-MASK+ and MATH+ available. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is similarily managable like any other easily transmissible virus. For what plausible reason is treatment and prophylaxis with Ivermectin still suppressed? #FollowtheScience.

b) Impact on the doll business. The new wave of Corona restrictions - new and tighter lockdowns, border closures, severely reduced air freight capacities - is now starting to hit the doll business. Heavier and larger shipments travel still travel with a couple of days delay to destinations in North America, but shipments to EU destinations with import fees clearance can take significantly longer, the estimations for international transit range between six and eight weeks. Small items like separate heads can not be shipped with the UPS oder DHL special line services anymore, and we have set up a new method for import fees clearance and freight forwarding (applicable for EU destination). For shipments from Europe to North America, there are still no air freight capacities, so items like Indigo's CWA or stain remover can not be shipped to these destinations.

2) New arrivals.

This week, six new heads were introduced:

• HR Doll no. 48 head - TPE
• Irontech S2 head - silicone
• JY Doll ›Amber‹ head - silicone
• SE Doll ›Vana‹ head - TPE
• WM Dolls no. 319 head (= Jinsan no. 319) - TPE
• Zelex A89 head - TPE

Two new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: HR Doll HR-156/C body style - TPE / height ~156 cm / weight ~39 kg
• New arrivals: Zelex ZE-163 - TPE / ~163 cm / ~53 kg

No new head variants of existing heads were introduced:

Also, as of March 14th, 2021, TDF-accredited vendors are no longer allowed to link to "pages that promote dolls that are disallowed at TDF", including their own shop websites. This is a historical milestone. Additionally, numerous pictures by popular photographers like Mizuwali (e.g. Piper Doll) and Mandos (WM Dolls) habe been dissaproved by TDF management.
